For thousands of years many cultures have burned plants and herbs to help dispel negativity, achieve an altered reality, or cleanse an area. Interesting a recent scientific report recently showed that smudging does indeed reduce bacteria.
In Celtic times the likelihood is they also drove animals through plant smoke to kill certain pests. In this workshop you will learn about the history of smudging and how it has been applied in different cultures. You will be able to create your own smudge stick and learn the importance of some of the ceremonial practices associated with smudging as well as the function of the different herbs and plants used. The workshop is run by Jan Jasicki who has spent many years working in social care and education. No further dates for this workshop at present |
